The Patriots Dynasty could be in danger of collapsing. After this season, it is hard to fathom such a thought, but it must be addressed. While I don’t foresee the demise of the Pats, I don’t doubt it as a possibility. As they entertain the option of re-signing Randy Moss, address the issue of an aging defense, and address more allegations in the ongoing Spy Gate saga, the Patriots don’t have history on their side.

The Rams team that the Patriots upset in 2002 to win their first Super Bowl was the founding of the Patriot Dynasty and the downfall of the Rams. The Rams have won one playoff game since then, and failed to make the playoffs four times.

There is also the annual “Curse of the Super Bowl Losers.” Historically, the losing team of the Super Bowl does not make the playoffs the following year. Should the Patriots fail to make the playoffs in 2008, they will most likely need to re-tool their defense and start from scratch. If there is anything to the Spy Gate accusations now flying around, this could spell trouble for the entire organization.
