Co-Defensive Coordinator and D-Line Coach Greg Mattison has left the Gators to coach linebackers for the Baltimore Ravens. Mattison was Coach Urban Meyer’s first coach hired when Meyer made the move from Utah to Gainesville. Mattison felt the timing and job offer were right, citing his relationship with Raven’s Head Coach John Harbaugh, and the rigors of college recruiting.
New hire, Dan McCarney will assume Mattison’s position as D-Line Coach for the Gators. McCarney will have a tall task improving a D-Line that struggled to consistently get pressure on the QB last season, exposing a young secondary by giving QBs too much time in the pocket.
